Word Counter

Measure the length and basic structure of an article, caption, application, brief, or draft without sending it to a remote editor.

Use the tool

Paste text and analyze it to see words, Unicode characters, characters without spaces, sentences, paragraphs, and reading time.

How it works

Get a useful result in three steps

  1. Paste or type the text you want to measure.
  2. Select Analyze text.
  3. Review counts and adjust the draft in your own editor.
Accuracy boundary

A focused tool, not an automatic expert

Word and sentence boundaries are practical estimates. Languages without spaces and unusual punctuation may need a language-specific editor.

Always verify the result in the system where you will use it. The page intentionally avoids accounts, uploads, and claims that go beyond the calculation it performs.

Questions

Before you use the result

How is reading time calculated?

The estimate uses 225 words per minute and rounds any non-empty result up to at least one minute.

Are spaces included in the character count?

The tool reports both all Unicode characters and a separate count with whitespace removed.

Does the tool save my writing?

No. The text is not intentionally uploaded or stored by the application.
